Summary : The Engineer II Energy Storage Engineering is responsible for providing subject matter expert engineering support to all phases of the project, including project development, proposals, contracting, design, construction, and operations phases of utility scale energy storage projects. Requirements :

  • Reviews construction designs for conformance with project requirements, integration requirements, and industry best practices, including battery system submittals, PCS submittals, site layout, electrical BOP, civil BOP, and design studies.
  • Identifies and communicates project technical risks.
  • Performs calculations to demonstrate system sizing and performance capabilities using defined processes and templates.
  • Evaluates project requirements to inform system design, equipment requirements, cost estimating, project risk, site feasibility, and operational requirements.
  • Completes battery energy storage system design and design optimization using standardized processes and tools.
  • Supports technical interface with equipment suppliers and communicates project requirements through standardized request forms.
  • Communicates design information to construction management, development, estimating, and engineering teams.
  • Reviews equipment / technologies over a broad range of technical disciplines including batteries, HVAC systems, fire safety systems, control systems, electrical infrastructure, balance of system equipment, and non-battery energy storage technologies.
  • Leads on certain defined engineering tasks in support of project execution.
  • Completes most tasks with limited supervision using defined templates and processes.
  • Operates Company aligned vehicle for project site visits.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Contributes to standard process, procedure and template development.
  • Collaborates with design managers, electrical engineers, civil engineers, SCADA engineers, and CAD designers for guidance on preliminary designs and deliverables.

  • Beginner level experience / knowledge in : Control systemsElectrical, civil and structural designUtility photovoltaic system designProject execution, budgeting, and scheduleOperations and maintenanceSafety evaluationRoot cause analysis
  • Oral and written skills to include : Technical writingAbility to communicate issues to peers and superiorsClear and concise writingLead meetingsPresent design details through meetings, presentations, and design documentation.
  • Ability to perform accurate and rigorous engineering evaluation and calculation to support projects.
  • Effectively use logic, data, problem-solving tools, and analysis to understand and develop solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a schedule for key deliverables.
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Capacity to learn and understand equipment / technologies over a broad range of technical disciplines including batteries, inverters, HVAC systems, fire / life safety systems, electrical infrastructure, balance of systems equipment, solar PV, and non-battery energy storage technologies.
  • Functional competencies include attention to detail, collaboration, accountability, prioritization, and customer focus.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical, or systems engineering or equivalent, required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 2 or more years of relevant experience, required.
  • Ability to travel 5 to 15% domestically.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Anticipated base salary range : $81,000 - $95,000The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
