American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring at least 1.5 years of experience and certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the PreOp-PACU unit of a hospitalThe unit includes 24 Pre-Op / Phase 2 beds and 19 PACU bedsCare for patients ranging from infants to geriatrics, including ambulatory, elective, trauma, and acute care casesPatient ratios vary : Pre-Op 1 : 2-3, PACU 1 : 1 or 1 : 2, Phase 2 1 : 2-4, depending on acuity and patient needsSupportive team with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy / lab support, IV / VAT team, resource nurses, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and anesthesia / CRNAUse of Epic for charting; Omnicell for medication managementOrientation includes a weeklong introduction with one day in each department (PreOp, PACU, Phase II, Endo)12-hour variable shifts (days : varies between 0500-2300 or nights : 1830-0700 with three consecutive shifts for nights)Floating may be required within PreOp, PACU, Endo prep and discharge, and Phase 2 according to scope of practiceWeekend and call rotation required : weekend call every three weeks; response time is 15 minutes with sleep room optionsHoliday coverage required as part of rotated on-call teams (approx. 2 holidays per year)Provide pre-op, PACU, and Phase II recovery care for a diverse patient populationAssist with prepping and discharging endoscopy patients, but not intra-op endo casesMust be prepared to assist with patient boarding in the event of high hospital censusTeam includes ample support staff and resources for patient careAll nurses are expected to manage their own lab draws with phlebotomist support availableScrub color is navy blueFree parking available in a parking garageNo RTO will be considered during the first 3 weeks of August annuallyFacility is known to be traveler-friendly and offers renewal opportunities\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license in South Dakota or Compact stateCompletion of a board-approved nursing programMinimum 1.5 years of RN experience requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications requiredCritical care experience and competency with ICU cases, including hemodynamic drips and ventilated patients, required for night shift RNsCompetency in IV insertion, ventilator care, epidural / PCA set up, blood product transfusions, and moderate sedation administration preferredEpic charting experience preferred; approval required if lacking Epic experienceComfort with pre-op, recovery, discharge, and caring for boarded patients if census is fullFirst-time travelers will not be consideredMust not reside within 100 miles of the facility location\n Benefits\n
