Summary
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position assumes administrative responsibility for the operations and activities for Surgical Services.
Partners with the facility's executive team and key medical staff to develop and implement a service line strategy overlayed with capital planning and program development.
Effectively manages fiscal operation of the assigned units according to guidelines established by budgets and revenue targets.
Direct reports include SPD Director and Clinical Manager who has day to day functional responsibilities.
The Director of Surgical Services shall direct, supervise and over-see operations of all Surgical Services Product Lines.
Administrative responsibilities include 12 Operating Rooms, Endoscopy, PACU, Pre-Admission Testing, and Central Sterile Processing.
Responsible for the development and implementation of identified standards of nursing care to meet the needs of the perioperative patient.
Serves as a clinical resource for the clinical managers and coordinators, anesthesia and physicians as well as other members of the perioperative staff.
Promotes a patient focused culture by demonstrating sensitivity to patients, families, physicians, and employees.
Qualifications
Minimum Education / Licensure / Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
- Master’s Degree preferred
- BLS / CPR Certification.
- Florida RN license required.
- Six Sigma Yellow or Black Belt preferred
Minimum Experience
- Surgical Services, Operating Room knowledge and skills.
- Minimum 5 years of Surgical Services including Operating Room experience as a director.
- 3 to 5 years of management / leadership experience required.

Active and current registered nurse license in the state of residence / practice. Has highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, proven leadership ability and hospital operational ability, and ability to serve as role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing.
Education :
Required : Associate degree from an accredited nursing school with a bachelor's degree in a health care related field or a BSN.
Preferred : MSN or master’s in a health care related field.
Experience :
Required : 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or full-time charge nurse / related position.
Certifications : Required : AHA BLS.
Required : AHA BLS.
Preferred : RN license.
