CM Medical is excited to once again be partnering with a contract manufacturing company looking for a Process Engineer. The company seamlessly integrates engineering processes with advanced precision engineering technologies to serve a diverse range of sectors, encompassing orthopedics, surgical robotics, dental care, and life sciences.
Responsibilities
- Analyzing product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine the optimal manufacturing processes and methods for production.
- Creating, implementing, and troubleshooting CNC programs for new parts start-ups using software such as MasterCAM or Part Maker.
- Assessing the feasibility of designing new tooling or equipment considering cost, time limitations, and other technical and economic factors.
- Providing technical expertise on manufacturing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations.
- Collaborating with customers to resolve design or process issues, proficiently working with customer drawings and models, and generating documentation to support machinists.
- Overseeing the manufacturing or building of prototype products or systems.
- Coordinating with vendors to establish product specifications, arrange equipment / material purchases, and evaluate products based on quality standards.
- Estimating production times, staffing requirements, and associated costs to inform management decisions.
- Engaging with manufacturing management, programmers, and staff to optimize production capabilities, schedules, and considerations.
- Developing, evaluating, and enhancing manufacturing methods to increase production levels while improving costs, yields, quality, and safety.
- Troubleshooting process issues and implementing solutions to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
- Updating process procedures to ensure accurate documentation and possessing a strong understanding of metrology for interaction with inspectors, as well as knowledge of SPC and Process Capability.
- Determining the necessary test methods, procedures, parts, and equipment for implementing engineering changes.
- Staying updated on the latest products, services, and technologies, contributing to the development of new products and improvements to existing ones.
- Conducting technical presentations to customers and prospects.
- Assisting in developing formal sales proposal documentation for customer solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering preferred, or an Associate's degree in Manufacturing Technology combined with a minimum of 5 years' process engineering experience in a machine shop environment, or at least 10 years of process engineering / programming experience in a machine shop setting.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, machine drawings, technical documents, and regulations.
- Strong mathematical skills including probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Problem-solving ability in situations with limited standardization.
- Proficiency in Word Processing, Spreadsheet software, and CAD / CAM programming software such as Solidworks, MasterCam, or Part Maker.
- Work environment involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts with a moderate noise level.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, reaching, and occasional lifting / moving of objects up to 50 pounds, with specific vision requirements for close vision and depth perception.
