Job Title : Special Education Teacher
Position Overview : We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs, create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, and collaborate with parents, colleagues, and support staff to ensure the academic, social, and emotional success of students.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities based on their unique needs and abilities.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to acmodate various learning styles and disabilities.
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement, independence, and social skills development.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as necessary to meet IEP goals.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, school administrators, and other support staff to provide integrated services.
- municate regularly with parents / guardians regarding student progress, IEP updates, and strategies for home support.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, IEP pliance, and other required documentation.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid Mississippi Educator License with an endorsement in Special Education (K-12).
- Certification in one or more of the following areas : Mild / Moderate Disabilities, Severe Disabilities, Emotional / Behavioral Disorders, or other relevant special education certifications.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines related to special education, including IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism, intellectual disabilities, emotional / behavioral disorders, and other disabilities.
- Strong munication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and provide differentiated instruction.

Preferred Qualifications :
- Masters degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Experience with assistive technology and other resources to support students with disabilities.
- Previous experience working in a public school setting.
