Industrial Maintenance Technician — Food Production

Start your day with a walk-through of our plant, listening to the hum of motors and conveyors that keep our frozen foods moving. You’ll partner with production to prioritize preventive maintenance, respond to line calls, and keep equipment reliable and safe. As a mid-level technician bridging Jr. Mechanic and Electro-Mechanic, you’ll blend strong mechanical skills with working electrical knowledge in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

What a Typical Day Looks Like

Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, conveyors, pumps, pneumatic systems, and other production machinery.
Assist with electrical tasks such as replacing switches, sensors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Diagnose issues by observing equipment in operation, listening for irregular sounds, and using basic diagnostic tools.
Dismantle, repair, and reassemble equipment using hand and power tools; perform minor fabrications and support setups / changeovers.
Handle facility upkeep : basic plumbing and carpentry, HVAC filter changes, and general building maintenance.
Pitch in during inclement weather (snow removal, salting, roof checks) and assist with outdoor grounds work.
Keep the shop orderly—return tools, maintain cleanliness, and promote 5S best practices.
Maintain spare parts, tools, and supplies; flag shortages and reorder needs.
Document all work in the CMMS / work order system and share improvement ideas with leadership.

Food Safety, Quality, and Compliance

Follow all safety rules, Lockout / Tagout (LOTO), and company policies.

Support GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, and CCP monitoring; ensure equipment performs to food safety and quality standards.

Immediately report and help correct any condition that could affect food safety or product quality.

What You Bring

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.

Basic electrical skills (low voltage, sensors, relays, VFDs).

Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and basic blueprints.

Comfort with hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.

Detail-oriented problem solver who works well both independently and on a team.

Background & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

2–4 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or a related field.

Familiarity with packaging or food processing equipment preferred.

CMMS experience is a plus.

Position is the intermediate level between Jr. Mechanic and Electro-Mechanic.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

Able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform inspections and repairs.

Able to safely climb ladders and work at heights.

Lift up to 50 pounds.

Comfort working in noisy, cold, hot, and wet environments.
