Senior / System Product Design Engineer
Summary
The Senior / System PD Engineer works closely with the customers’ engineering team on product development from concept to mass production.
Internally work and drive internal cross functional team to meet product specification from design, process though engineering builds.
Focusing on facilitating technical communication between engineering groups and non-technical team members, the system PD Engineer will use his / her technical expertise to help identify solutions for engineering issue during the project development and review all technical work.
Key Responsibilities
- Team up with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, marketing and customers to define a mechanical design for a variety of consumer electronic products.
- Use project management skills to ensure all development activities meeting program schedule.
- Work with multi-functional teams to create RFI&RFP proposals.
- Conduct Mechanical Design Review with customer which includes detail in dimensional tolerance analysis, basic FEA calculation, DFM and manufacturing assembly flow and fixture design.
- Oversee design risks and work with cross functional team on FEMA designs.
- Provide technical inputs to trouble shoot major quality issues during the engineering builds and production ramp.
- Help customer lock / improve design through DOE, REL validations and FACA activities.
- Interfacing with factory teams, testing laboratories, and suppliers for the development and cost-requirements.
- Using NX / Creo CAD program to review 3D database and drawings.
- Review FEA and MFA mesh modeling and analyze result using ABAQUS, COMSOL or ANSYS.
- Familiar with general engineering materials, FAI / Cpk and other statistic tools (Mini Tab, JMP), GD&T.
- Conduct international conference call with both US customer and manufacturing team in China.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 3+ years of experience in Product Design.
- Experienced in metal stamping, plastic injection molding, basic manufacturing techniques using commercially available materials.
- Experienced in full design and development cycle on consumer electronic products.
- Experienced in CAD programs; (CREO, NX).
- Experienced in FATP assembly and module level design is a plus.
- Practical experience in tooling design, manufacturing and DFM development is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Fluent in conversational Mandarin is highly desired.
- International / Domestic travel up to 30% of the time.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced work environment for consumer electronic product development.
- The base pay range for this role is between $111,429.00 to $177,840.00 annually and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
