A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a new Spanish-speaking professional to join their staff in Brooklyn as a Case Manager.

About the Opportunity :

  • Start Date : ASAP
  • Assignment Length : Ongoing (Contract to Hire)
  • Schedule : Monday to Friday
  • Hours : 9am-5pm (3 days per week), 7am-3pm (one early day), 12p-8pm (one late day)
  • Setting : Domestic Violence Shelter

Responsibilities :

The Case Manager will :

  • Engage residents in initial and ongoing treatment processes, through individual and group counseling
  • Develop and maintain housing referral resources, assist residents in the process of locating and securing permanent housing
  • Assist all residents in the process of referral and placement in community based resources
  • Assess residents’ vocational and educational needs, aptitudes and interests through interviews and testing
  • Develop and maintain placement and follow-up as appropriate after assessment and counseling.
  • Participate in training seminars conducted to enhance and develop clinical skills with the client population
  • Attend weekly individual case supervision, group supervision, monthly case conferences, and staff meetings
  • Develop with the resident, a contract of mutually agreed goals and objectives to be accomplished within an agreed upon timetable
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Social Work Supervisor

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Health and / or Human Services-related field is preferred or Associates Degree with at least 2-3 years relevant experience
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Training and experience in assessing the vocational and educational needs and aptitudes of clients
  • Thorough familiarity and success with engaging clients experience assisting eligible clients through the process of obtaining Public Assistance, Medicaid and other benefits
  • Knowledgeable and sensitive to domestic violence issues
  • Computer savvy
  • Microsoft Office Application proficiency
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Desired Skills :

  • 2+ year of Crisis Counseling experience
  • Experience in a Residential Shelter for victims of Domestic Violence
  • Experience and demonstrated skills in Group Counseling
