Job Description
Bethany School seeks Substitute Teachers for on-call work. Successful candidates are culturally competent, responsible, caring, and enthusiastic people who possess sharp teaching skills and positive experience working with students in grades K-8.
Each Bethany School faculty member is expected to :
- Foster and steward a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy in and out of the classroom
- Set reasonable expectations for the development of the mind, body, and spirit
- Exhibit a solid working knowledge of best teaching practices
- Identify and support students' social, emotional, and academic needs
- Provide timely feedback to students and families via online portals, email, and phone calls
- Design and facilitate productive dialogue among students and teachers
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students / families about classwork, learning goals, and student progress
- Demonstrate content knowledge and expertise and scaffold curriculum to ensure progress toward mastery of skills and concepts
- Collaborate and plan actively for learning
Qualified candidates will possess or demonstrate the following :
- Bachelor's Degree required
- A commitment to justice equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Initiative regarding job-related tasks, responsibilities, and projects
- Collaborative skills and the ability to work well in team settings
- Prioritization of student safety and security
- Dependability and professionalism; be punctual, complete work in a timely manner, maintain calm under pressure and exercise sound judgment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; communicate effectively and professionally in writing and verbally
- Proficiency in the use of technology
