Position : Data Governance Alation Specialist
Location : Atlanta, GA (Onsite up to three days a week)
Overview :
We are seeking a Data Governance Alation Specialist to join our Data Management team, where you will drive best practices in data governance, strategy, and adoption.
This role requires in-depth knowledge of data governance principles, data management, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience Required :
- Minimum of 4 years experience with Alation tool implementation.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in IT, including 5+ years in technical leadership within Data Management or Data Governance.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement data governance strategies and frameworks, including Data Catalog, Metadata Management, Lineage Management, Business Glossary, Data Quality Management, Data Access, and Data Marketplace.
- Design and implement comprehensive technical solutions aligned with the organization's data governance strategy.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes affecting data governance practices.
- Provide expert consulting on data governance, including technical solution architecture and integration.
- Create and optimize processes to enhance data governance operations and ensure their long-term sustainability.
- Lead and facilitate client workshops, pre-sales activities, and project scoping.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to data governance tools.
- Mentor and coach junior team members.
Required Skills :
- Proven experience as a technical solution architect with a strong background in data governance and management platforms.
- Hands-on expertise in Data Governance tools, particularly Alation, covering all core capabilities such as Data Catalog, Metadata Management, Glossary, Lineage, Data Classification, and Security.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization and lead discussions with both technical and business leaders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with large data sets.
- Knowledge of data management principles in Life Sciences is a plus.
Additional Information :
- Relocation assistance provided if the candidate is outside the commutable distance.
- Active contribution to pre-sales / business development in the Data Governance domain is expected.
- Experience with Data Governance tools like Informatica IDMC, Collibra, and cloud-native capabilities (AWS, Azure, GCP) is desirable.
