We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to step into the role of Registered Nurse / Clinical Supervisor II, Rapid Response (RRT) Lead.

Position : Registered Nurse / Clinical Supervisor II, Rapid Response (RRT) Lead

What You'll Do : As a Registered Nurse / Clinical Supervisor II, Rapid Response (RRT) Lead, you'll play a vital role in the Intensive Care Unit and throughout the hospital.

Your responsibilities include :

  • Function as an expert clinician, utilizing critical thinking to mentor and guide others.
  • Assess and stabilize clinically deteriorating or unstable patients.
  • Provide 1 : 1 care until the patient is stabilized or transferred to the ICU.
  • Assist in transporting unstable patients to procedures or higher levels of care.
  • Round on inpatients throughout the hospital based on RRT protocols.
  • Support and assist physicians with emergency and bedside procedures.
  • Collaborate with ICU charge nurses to ensure safe patient care.
  • Serve as a resource nurse to ICU staff.
  • Communicate with primary care physicians or hospitalists to relay RRT assessments and facilitate and carry out orders.
  • Maintain professional communication with colleagues, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Use the SBAR communication format, preparing relevant patient data and anticipating the information needed by physicians.
  • Collect and interpret patient data using the nursing process and data from the physician and Electronic Health Record (EHR), such as history and physicals and progress notes.
  • Document processes and outcomes of care in a timely and independent manner using information technology, seeking opportunities to improve computer / automation skills.

Ensure appropriate reports are completed at the end of an RRT call.

Follow standards and guidelines, implement clinical changes, and participate in evidence-based practice.

What We're Looking For :

  • Experience :
  • ICU charge nurse experience preferred.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of clinical experience as a RN in ICU.
  • Education : BSN required, MSN preferred.
  • Licensure / Certifications :
  • Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain BLS certification.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain LA City Fire Card certification at the time of hire or within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Certified Critical Care RN (CCRN) preferred.
  • Active involvement as a leader / participant in a hospital committee or council.
  • ICU Requirements : ACLS, NIHSS Certification (within 30 days of employment), VPH Annual Stroke Education within 30 days of employment.

Specific Responsibilities :

Clinical Supervisor II / RRT :

  • Acts as a patient advocate, maintaining sensitivity to patient care and privacy.
  • Assists the director / manager with monitoring and evaluating staff performance.
  • Ensures appropriate reports and documentation are completed and reported before the end of the shift.
  • Participates in Clinical Supervisor development and informational meetings, Unit Based Council, and Staff Meetings.
  • Documents maintenance and repairs using the work order process.
  • Exhibits professionalism in appearance, conduct, communication, and behaviors appropriate to the situation.
  • Facilitates a safe environment for patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ensures compliance with occurrence reports, policies, and procedures.
  • Functions as a resource and advocate for patient experience, striving for constant improvements.
  • Identifies educational needs and plans / provides / refers to appropriate content experts for ongoing staff educational needs.
  • Incorporates evidence-based knowledge into practice decisions.
  • Initiates the Chain of Command Policy when needed.
  • Manages patient throughput, anticipating the next patient stable for transfer in emergencies or increased census / surge.
  • Leads / participates in huddles, charge, staff, and unit-based council meetings.
  • Manages workload cost-effectively by flexing staff off duty or calling in off-duty staff according to patient census.
  • Monitors patient care to ensure personal, hygiene, and safety needs are met.
  • Monitors core measure performance and nurse-sensitive indicators, implementing strategies for improving outcomes / metrics.
  • Monitors monthly compliance with staff certifications, licensure, and annual health screen requirements.
  • Orchestrates moving patients to the next level of care when stable for transfer and effectively communicates with other departments about delays.
  • Participates in hospital-wide committees and councils, facilitating two-way sharing of information.
  • Prepares for and actively participates in daily bed board meetings and All Bed Crisis (ABC) meetings.
  • Pursues professional growth through knowledge sharing, authoring publications, attending scholarly presentations, or being involved in professional organizations.
  • Serves as a patient experience champion, rounding on patients and their families for environmental safety, monitoring care boards to ensure they reflect the patient's plan of care, and following up with concerns / complaints in a timely and comprehensive manner.
