Overview

As a direct report to the Vice President of the High Impact Unit (HIU), oversees the handling of the most complex commercial liability claims within the HIU through your team of 5 Complex Adjusters.

Responsibilities

Owns the development and performance of a complex claims team, ensuring the quality, accuracy, and timely resolution of commercial liability claims of the highest complexity and / or severity.

Continuously develops talent by creating opportunities for direct reports to grow and strengthen new skills.

Monitors the performance of their team, analyzing any problematic trends to identify root cause problems. Escalates issues or may recommend solutions to operational leadership.

Advocates a culture committed to identifying process efficiencies to continuously improve how work is completed.

  • Demonstrates a passion and vision towards a highly effective and engaged employee culture. Selects top talent, delivers continuous coaching, recognizes employees to reinforce behaviors that ensure service excellence, and holds other accountable for the development of their teams.
  • Advocates claims customer service excellence by building an understanding of the customer experience that meets and exceeds stakeholders' expectations.
  • Resolves complaints, problems, and coverage questions that are escalated from teams, escalating further if needed. Collaborates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including existing policyholders, the business community and governmental agencies, to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Promotes and advocates business unit goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with broader Claims Department and corporate functional goals.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods pertaining to the claims field; knowledge of claims management practices, company operations and policies.
  • Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in leadership roles within the insurance industry.
  • 7-10 years of relevant and progressively more responsible claims work experience across multiple casualty lines.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Persuades and influences people through superior written and oral communications; explains things clearly, challenges ideas effectively and argues in favor of own point of view.
  • Ability to synthesize and draw conclusions from large amounts of data; translates the data into actions and results.
  • Demonstrates drive and ambition to achieve goals and outstanding results.
  • Possesses emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
  • Embraces changes; invites feedback related to performance and deals constructively with criticism.
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of the industry.
  • Multi-state adjuster licenses a plus.
