Overview
The Knight Cancer Institute, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center and part of Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), is currently hiring for an Assistant / Associate Professor with a focus in Gastrointesitnal (GI) cancer.
This is an outstanding career move for candidates with a clinical and / or laboratory-based research focus and a strong record of external funding and publications.
The Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology currently has over 110 faculty and is comprised of programs in the general hematology, solid tumor oncology, bone marrow transplant & cellular therapy, hematological malignancies, and palliative medicine.
The Division also oversees faculty in a number of community practices, known as Community Hematology and Oncology (CHO), and maintains a strong collaboration with the VA Medical Center, linked to the main campus by a skybridge.
Our clinical practices enroll more than 5,000 new patients each year.
The Division, the largest component of the Knight Cancer Institute, has a goal of providing outstanding patient care, ensuring access to high quality clinical and translational clinical trials, and integration of basic research.
The Division has grown significantly over the past decade, and significant growth is projected.

Function / Duties of Position
The duties of our clinical faculty positions are in support of the missions, goals and objectives of OHSU and the School of Medicine and may include :
- Participate in the education of medical students and house staff in accordance with assignments to the department by the Curriculum Committee and Chair
- Care of patients with hematologic and / or oncologic disease
- Establish and maintain a program of scholarly activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes,
- Participate in administrative committees and councils of OHSU as approved by the Chair and Division Head
- Engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups with knowledge and consent of the Chair and Division Head
It is anticipated a clinical faculty position will be made up of the following components : Clinical, Teaching Research / Academic, and Service.
Academic rank will be based on qualifications.
Required Qualifications
- MD or MD / PhD
- Licensed to practice medicine in Oregon
- Board-certified in Internal Medicine
- Board eligible / certified in Hematology and / or Medical Oncology
- Demonstrated background, focus, and drive to excel, as well as the desire to deliver the best care possible to cancer patient in a clinical research environment
- Proven track record of teaching, basic, clinical or population research and excellent patient care
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven success in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams
- History of success in obtaining extramural funds for clinical trials and / or basic science research
