Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Math Tutor (Part-Time) position in the Adult Education department in the Academic & Student Affairs division.
This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.
Under general supervision of the Dean of Adult Education and the program coordinator, the Math Tutor (Part-Time) providesinstruction and support tostudents in the Adult Education program.
This is apart-timeposition,and itrequiresutilizing techniques that facilitate adult learning styles and demonstrates varying techniques.
Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following :
- Supportandmaintainclassroompoliciesandan effective learningenvironment.
- Communicateeffectivelywith allmembersoftheprogram.
- Tutor individuals orsmall groups of students, reinforcinginstruction asadvised by the instructor.
- Assist intheadministering andscoringavariety oftestsaccording to student performance.
- Assist instructorswith administrativetasks(schedulechanges,studentfiles,SLPs,etc.)
- Substitute / monitorclasses forinstructors onan asneededbasis (notto exceed 3 consecutive days)
- Conferwithinstructorsconcerningprogramsandmaterialstomeetstudentneeds.
- Complete documentation ofstudentprogress (SLPtasks,smallgroups and / orone-on- one review).
- Preparematerials,exhibits,equipment,anddemonstrations.
- Monitorassignedclassroomsupplies, materials,andequipment.
- Participateinmeetings,professionaldevelopmentandtraining / programsasassigned.
- Maintainconfidentiality.
- Assistwithrecruitmentandretentionactivities.
- Ensurethatallactivitiesconformtocollegeandstateguidelines.
- Supportthemissionandvisionofthecollege, programandTCSG.
- Performotherdutiesasassigned.
Competencies :
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
- Perform administrative duties for class management.
- Possess computer skills and knowledge of software and internet use.
Minimum Qualifications :
Must possess and demonstrate the following :
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a closely related field.
- Experience in Adult Education and ability to tutor students in 6th 12th grade Math.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
May be required to teach at other locations and other locations within the community.
