Position : Family Therapist (LMFT, LSW, LCSW, LPC, or LCPC) Footprints to Recovery - Elgin IL Full-Time
The Family Therapist provides direct patient care to patients and supports with substance use and behavioral health disorders.
Ensures the safety and well-being of these patients by creating a safe, therapeutic environment. Participates in treatment planning and implementation of clinical services to support the family relationship / transition to their home environment.
Facilitates weekly family education / multi-family groups focusing on family roles, dynamics, and boundaries to support the patient’s recovery.
The clinical family liaison will partner with the patients to develop an individually tailored care plan to help them meet their goals and promote positive changes in their behavior and transition to the community.
Job Duties : Family Therapist
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served including knowledge of substance use disorders and how it impacts the physical and psychological needs of the patients and their loved ones, as well as the ability to respond appropriately to those needs.
- Knowledge of the different stages of recovery for the patients and their families, and how this contributes to a patient’s individualized needs.
- Possess working knowledge of Internal Family Systems Therapy.
- Participates in treatment planning by working with the interdisciplinary team to identify patient’s problems, needs, and strengths
- Suggests modifications to treatment plan based on observation of patient behavior and provides input into discharge planning.
- Assesses the patient’s progress and need for higher level of care, stepdown, or discharge.
- Monitors and reports patients’ progress and communicates information to charge person on assigned shift and family members.
- Facilitates didactic, educational and unit / program community groups within the assigned treatment programs.
- Provides Chemical Dependency Education for patients in a Chemical Dependency or Dual Diagnosis Program. Encourages and facilitates patients’ participation in therapeutic activities.
- Supervises patients to ensure their safety and their involvement in treatment.
- Facilitating family sessions to a caseload of patients and their loved ones
- Connects patients and their supports with resources in their communities.
- Completes patient, program, and department documentation.
- Providing guidance and support to patients and family members to help promote goals and encourage patients progress through the program.
- Maintains a safe and therapeutic physical environment for patients and their loved ones.
- Attends mandatory orientation and training activities within the program.
- Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Experience working with substance use disorder population and their supports
- Maintain information as highly confidential
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and willingness to seek supervision
- Family Therapy experience
- Ability to deliver therapeutic groups
- Prior experience with working in higher level of care settings.
- Posses a skill set consisting of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Substance use disorders
Education and Certifications :
- A Master Degree
- A valid driver’s license
- LPC, LCPC, LSW, LCSW, PsyD. Or LMFT (preferred)
- Current CADC or has an interest in pursuing CADC
- Knowledge of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and commitment therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
