Job Details
- Specialty : Medical Surgical Magic Valley Hospital Flr 4
- Common diagnoses / Types of patients : Cardiovascular, Strokes, Sepsis, COPD, CHF pneumonia, COVID, Chest tubes, Tele patients, General overflow of medical patients - rarely get surgicals, Post cath lab patients
- Experience or 'Must have' skills : Highly prefer Neuro and Tele experience. Prefer EPIC experience. Must have 1 year of experience, okay with first time travelers.
- RT Equipment : All except vents - fresh trachs after ICU / IMCU stay.
- Are there tele / monitor techs on this unit : Monitor techs, RNs are required to read and interpret.

- Nurse : Patient Ratios : 1 : 5, rarely asked to flex to 6 but has happened
- Required certifications : BLS, ACLS, Idaho Licensure, NIHSS preferred
Schedule Information
- Shifts & Scheduling : 7-7. Travelers will fill in where there is a need after core staff are scheduled.
- Weekend Requirement : Yes - based on need
- Holiday Requirement : Yes - based on need
- Floating Requirements : Will float to the Medical and Surgical floors
- How many shifts of unit / department specific orientation : 2-3 shifts
Additional Details
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift : Charge nurse does not take patient assignments. Resource / Team Lead RN does not take an assignment (may take a couple if full) - helps the LPNs / RNs and Aides with tasks.
- Are there nurse aids / patient care techs on this unit : Yes. 1 : 8
- Scrub Color / Dress Code / Scrubs provided : Navy blue scrubs, white / navy / black undershirts. Scrub jackets : Navy. No sweat pants or hoodies allowed.
- LPNs do work independently - RNs sign off. Travelers have extended as long as they can and some have gone perm.
