Position Summary
We are seeking a per diem Occupational Therapist (OT) for our Acute Care team at Hartford Hospital IRU, CT.
The Occupational Therapist (OT) independently evaluates, determines the treatment strategies, delivers and / or delegates services that identify, restore and remediate, in order to maximize function in the areas of activities of daily living, leisure / recreation, and productivity / work.
Addresses dysfunction in psychosocial skills, cognition, and sensorimotor components. Reports to Occupational Therapy Supervisor.
Responsibilities
Performs evaluations in the areas of activities of daily living, leisure / play, and productivity / work. Identifies contributing factors in the areas of psychosocial skills, cognition and sensorimotor components.
Recognizes physiological, psychological, and age related changes in the patient. Consults with Health Care Team members, and establishes measurable goals with the patient / family in order to meet patient needs.
Plans, implements, delivers, and delegates patient care by utilizing appropriate interventions and age specific treatment through selected activities and interventions.
Revises treatment when needed, instructing patient / family through verbal, written and audiovisual materials. Participates in discharge planning including recommendations made to community resources in order to meet patient needs throughout the continuum of care.
- Coordinates time management and supervises support personnel and student interns by organizing schedules to meet patient care needs, and collaborating with team members for assistance and coverage when needed to meet patient outcomes and department goals and standards.
- Documents all patient and professional interactions such as evaluations, assessments, progress toward goals, to maintain continuity of patient care for department standards, DPH, JCAHO and outside regulatory and insurance agencies.
- Communicates evaluation results, and makes recommendations to patients and families, health care team members, supervisors, and students in an appropriate manner to enhance positive relationships both internally and externally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Masters or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)
- OT working experience preferred, but will also consider new graduates!
- License to practice as an OT in the state of CT. Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT®).
