Job Description and Duties

PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) CHANNEL COAST DISTRICT / VENTURA SECTOR

Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application.

The reporting location for this position is San Buenaventura State Beach Main Day Use : 911 San Pedro St. Ventura CA 93001.

This position will work under the supervision of the Supervising State Park Ranger and Peace Officer Lead.

The Park Aide (Seasonal) is responsible for operating the entrance station to the park. (Primarily San Buenaventura Main Day, San Buenaventura Pier Lot, Emma Wood Group Camp.

The duties include but are not limited to selling accountable day use documents, printing and preparing passes, using a computer and cash register proficiently, generating reports, engaging in customer service, answering questions, general problem solving, and light maintenance work.

The park aide will perform the routine duties dressed in a full California State Parks uniform and adhering to the grooming standards of the Department.

The uniform will be purchased by the Park Aide and will be clean and be in good condition at the start of each workday.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing live scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Working Conditions

The majority of the working shift is spent inside a kiosk working on a computer register, completing light paperwork, and cash handling.

This is completed by sitting, standing, and possibly walking the line of cars outside the kiosk.
