Job Title : Polysomnographic Technologist

Hours : 36 hrs weekly - Night Shift - Sign On Bonus Eligible (2400027F)

Description

The Polysomnographic (PSG) Technologist will work under the general supervision of the Sleep Lab Manager and clinical director to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.

This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, or patient care and education. The PSG Technologist will maintain all skills and knowledge sufficient to provide safe, effective and appropriate care to patients of all ages, including neonates, infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and adults.

Responsibilities :

  • Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs.
  • Perform comprehensive sleep studies including overnight polysomnography, Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), and other specialty studies.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment, apply electrodes and sensors, and ensure proper functioning.
  • Recognize patient's medical problems and physiological events and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Score sleep / wake stages and clinical events according to center-specific protocols.
  • Generate accurate reports and document all studies conducted.

Sign on bonus of $10K for those that qualify

Qualifications

Minimum Education :

High School Diploma or GED. Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis on polysomnography or equivalent experience.

Required Skills / Knowledge :

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Must have physical ability to move, lift and carry patients and equipment.

Required Licenses and Certifications :

  • Polysomnographic Technologist License / Registration in the District of Columbia.
  • Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS).
