This position works out of our Altavista, VA location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active.

What You’ll Work On
- Maintenance of the plant’s high-speed production equipment that makes our industry-leading nutrition products
- Non-repetitive mechanical repairs and troubleshooting
- Mechanical fluid and utility system troubleshooting
- Fabrication, machining and welding
- Installation or rearrangement of equipment
- Completion of work documentation
You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Understanding of mechanical systems
- Mechanical and spatial aptitude
- Good math and writing skills
- Knowledge of hydraulic and fluid systems as well as proper lubrication procedures with oil and grease
Preferred Qualifications
- Welding certification preferred
- Backflow prevention certification preferred
