Nursing Assistant (NA), ICU C-8 Intensive Care Unit

Job Overview :

Provides basic, direct patient care, taking into account specific needs as related to patient’s age. Assumes responsibility for care of patients and functions as a member of the health care team, taking direction and guidance from Registered Nurse.

All care is provided in compliance with and according to department policy / procedure and Standards of Care.

Qualifications : Required :

Required :

• High School Diploma
• BLS Certification through American Heart Association only
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Effective communication skills and basic math skills
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred :

Previous Nursing Assistant experience and / or successful completion of two Registered Nurse accredited clinical courses and / or completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program

Certifications and Licenses :

BLS certification through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements :

• Evenings 3 : 00PM - 11 : 00PM
• Every other weekend required, schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs
• Part-Time (22.5 hrs)
• 2 Week Mandatory Orientation

Essential Functions :

• Participates in assessment of patient needs and communication with the health care team
• Participates in staff, patient and / or family education to a degree consistent with personal knowledge base
• Participates in unit Quality Improvement activities
• Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
