At Houston Methodist, the NICU Charge Nurse position is for a licensed professional Registered Nurse (RN) with a Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited School of Nursing and at least two years of clinical nursing experience with progressive leadership skills.
This position plays a key role in creating a safe patient care environment and providing nursing care to a diverse patient population.
The NICU Charge Nurse also acts as a role model and coach to department personnel, contributing to the development of their skills and knowledge.
The essential functions of this role include fostering staff engagement, promoting fair and consistent leadership skills, mentoring and providing oversight for new staff and students, and participating in department and hospital-wide initiatives to improve quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring the implementation of innovative solutions for practice changes and unit operations to enhance patient care.
Applicants for this position should have effective communication and problem-solving skills, the ability to function independently, and demonstrate proficiency in time management.
