Position Summary
The Buyer II partners with electrical and mechanical engineers and supply chain professionals to procure raw materials, outside machining service providers, and electronic components in sufficient quantities to provide for 100% customer service level while achieving the targeted Quality & Cost objectives.
This position reports to the Senior Materials Manager.
According to the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), this position is classified as exempt.
What You'll Be Doing
- Process purchase requisitions, manage approved suppliers and issue purchase orders according to company procedures
- Assist in the implementation of sourcing & commodity strategies for all goods and / or services to achieve improvements in all areas of quality, cost and delivery
- Expedite supplier shipments; identify and resolve any potential delays while keeping all internal and external customers informed of any materials delays or problems
- Assist in resolution of customs delays
- Share responsibility of recording receipts and closing purchase orders and assist in the resolution of invoicing discrepancies
- Manage material costs, perform cost comparisons, and identify cost savings opportunities available
- Participate in cost savings initiatives
- Develop and implement cost reduction, cost avoidance, and cost containment
- Monitor supplier performance and address non-conformances
- Maintain supplier data in ERP system and purchasing files
- Prepare reports / analyses as requested by management
- All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System
- Participate in annual physical inventory.

Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business
- 3+ years of experience in an ERP environment purchasing electronic / mechanical components
- Knowledge of on-line purchasing of mechanical / electronic components
- Ability to maintain a full-time schedule with the organizational skills to manage several tasks concurrently
- Proven communication, relationship building and negotiating skills with strong customer service orientation
- Strong initiative, proactive nature, and a sense of urgency
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office with attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
Preferred
- APICS, and / or CPM certification would be an asset
- Working knowledge of navigating IFS platform.
