Under the supervision of the licensed physician, the Medical Assistant will per form non-invasive routine technical supportive services of clinic patients' care relating to therapeutic and diagnostic functions, following established procedures, techniques, and work schedules.

The supervising licensed physician must be physically present in the treatment facility in order for the Medical Assistant to perform their non-invasive technical supportive services.

The Medical Assistant also provides a variety of administrative, assistive & supportive clinical and outreach activities.

The Medical Assistant cannot evaluate or synthesize data.

Reports to :

Direct & Administrative : Director of Healthcare Operations

Professional / Technical : RN Supervisor in consultation with the physician

Varied and depends on Clinical Area (Women’s Health, Podiatry Services, Public Health Services, & Programs, etc.)

Qualifications :

1. High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.

2. Completion of state approved training for Medical Assistants and training (Calif. Business & Professional Code 2069, 2070;

and Calif. Code of Regulations 1377, 1377.1) relating to the performance of injections, skin testing, and withdrawal of blood.

3. One year’s work experience as a Medical Assistant recommended.

4. A one-year experience or more providing Podiatry services preferred.

5. Medical Assistant II. Family Medicine. For all positions assigned to the clinical areas of Family Medicine : Must complete State approved audiometric training for CHDP within one year of employment.

6. Medical Assistant II. Women's Health. For all positions assigned to the clinical areas of Women's Health : Must have completed Basic Health Worker training within one year of employment.

7. Must maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification, in compliance with corporate CPR Policy.

8. Displays qualities of dependability and reliability, be willing to accept a variety of tasks, and able to comprehend quickly and follow instructions accurately.

9. Be able to communicate tactfully and empathetically, with cultural sensitivity, with staff and patients.

10. Write and print legibly.

11. Be well groomed and display mature behavior.

12. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.

13. Must be willing and able to work a varied and flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of NEVHC and its patients.

14. Must maintain or exceed competency levels as established by corporate standards for clinical practice.

15. Must demonstrate through written and / or oral testing, the knowledge, and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and has knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.

He or she is able to identify and categorize each patient’s age specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent, adult, or geriatric patients.

16. Fluency in English (speaks, read, and write).

17. Fluency in Spanish (speaks, translate, read, and write) and must have completed the mandatory Medical Interpretation course offered at NEVHC.

18. Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient / client information.

19. Current California driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage and a driving record acceptable to the NEVHC’s insurance carrier (if required to drive on the job).

Monday - Newhall HC 8 : 30am-5 : 00pm

Tuesday - San Fernando HC 8 : 30am-5 : 00pm

Wednesday - OFF

Thursday - Van Nuys Adult HC 8 : 30am-5 : 00pm

Friday - Newhall HC 12 : 30pm-5 : 00pm

Saturday - Newhall HC 8 : 30am-5 : 00pm

Budgeted Hours : 40 hours per week
