Summary

The Federal Reserve Board (Board) provides students opportunities for career success. The Board’s Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for undergraduate and graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis.

The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market.

Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team.

Employment in the Board’s internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship.

Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship. Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals.

Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes.

Position Requirements

The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) section is responsible for managing budget development, analyzing and reporting budget performance, and developing financial forecasts for the Board.

The section provides analytical support in these areas to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and senior management throughout the Board, and partners with the Strategic Performance Office (SPO) in providing accurate reporting on the Board’s strategic objectives.

Objectives :

  • Build upon the team approach to developing and enhancing research, increasing job knowledge, and furthering technical skills.
  • Improve and enhance the use and content of the team’s SharePoint site and webpage to help facilitate information sharing among team members, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Develop a new budget process that provides senior leaders, stakeholders, and customers with the information necessary to make informed timely budgetary decisions based on the current environment.
  • Develop and implement automation tools to assist with advancing the concept and integration of multi- year forecasting in the Board’s planning and performance process in alignment with the Board’s strategic plan.
  • Refine and enhance the amount, level, and type of information provided to senior leaders, stakeholders, and customers to assist them in making informed financial decisions.
  • Providing analytic assessments of operating plans submitted by divisions.
  • Incorporate budget performance graphics and reviewing service line summaries for brevity and clarity.
