A Day in Your Life at MKS :

As a PrincipalElectrical Engineer in Power Electronics, you are responsible for the development, release, and sustaining engineering of RF power electronics ranging from 3-30KW.

You are the design and sustaining engineering support of power electronics used for plasma and reactive gas generation. This is a fast paced, dynamic, highly technical environment.

You are working on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.

You will report to a Senior Engineering Manager.

You Will Make an Impact By :

Participating in cross-functional project teams to execute upon new product developments involving power electronics for plasma generation applications.

Leading new product development projects that involve a multi-discipline engineering team.

Performing engineering analysis using simulation tools such as SPICE, PSIM or other related tools.

Developing, documenting, and executing DVT plans. Reporting on results and recommending appropriate engineering tradeoffs to optimize functional performance, reliability, and product cost.

Creating and reviewing design ECOs as needed to support new product development and sustaining engineering needs.

Creating and archiving design reports and other product documentation.

Skills You Bring :

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 7 + years of experience in electrical engineering.

Experience in power electronics design strongly preferred.

Interest in or experience in project leadership (from the conceptual stage to product launch under schedule pressure).

7+ years of experience with :

Tools such as oscilloscopes, power meters, etc.

PCB layout optimization in terms of stray leakage inductance and spacing requirements.

Must have solid analytical skills with the ability to simplify and present complicated systems.

Preferred :

Experience in the design of power inverters operating at 400KHz or above, boost, buck, or buck / boost converter designs, or power switching in the 3-30KW power range strongly preferred.

Familiar with series and parallel resonant topologies strongly preferred.

Familiar with power converters / inverters that operate with soft switching (ZVS / ZCS) preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of reliability validation as it relates to power electronics preferred.

Familiarity with regulatory compliance testing such as compliance related to EMC and safety preferred.

Familiarity with semiconductor capital equipment preferred.
