Furtado & Associates, Inc. (F&A) is a leading consulting engineering, land surveying and construction management firm in Seattle, WA.

We are a small, privately held firm that works on transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Puget Sound area, including Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail Extensions and numerous projects for WSDOT and SDOT.

Furtado is currently initiating a search for a Full Time Resident Engineer for our growing Construction Management department in our Seattle office.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to join an established and dynamic organization that is experiencing significant growth.

The position will serve projects throughout the Greater Seattle and Puget Sound region. Projects may span multiple disciplines, such as roadway / highway and transit / rail construction.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Direct, supervise and and assign work to construction field office personnel
  • Reviews construction processes and engineering layouts
  • Reviews project activities with client and contractor’s field supervision resolving disputes and other daily issues
  • Oversees materials testing activities
  • Reviews daily inspection reports and other project documentation to ensure that deliverables are produced and completed within budget and on schedule
  • Attends and may lead construction meetings with client and contractors
  • Prepare scopes of work and proposals for various projects and bid packages
  • Communicate effectively with clients, staff and company management

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering-related field (e.g. Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, etc.)
  • A minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer or related roles (or equivalent working knowledge / experience)
  • At least 5 years working as a Resident Engineer on Federally funded infrastructure improvement projects $2,000,000 or more in value
  • Professional Engineer (PE) / Licensed Civil Engineer in the State of Washington.
  • A demonstrated ability to read and completely understand contract documents
  • A working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Valid, current Washington Driver’s license
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety
