Job Summary :
Prepares radioactive isotopes for administration to patients. Operates radioscopic equipment. Acts as an expert clinician who demonstrates a high level of knowledge / expertise, and is a leader / resource to the healthcare team.
Job Requirements :
Education and Work Experience :
- Bachelor’s Degree in nuclear medicine technology or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor’s) : Required
- Master's Degree : Preferred
- Five years' technical experience : Preferred
- Two years' leadership experience : Preferred
- Three years' nuclear medicine experience : Preferred
Licenses / Certifications :
- State Nuclear Medicine License : Required in CA and HI
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine OR Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist : Required in CA and OR
- Venipuncture certification : Required in CA and HI
- State Nuclear Med Tech (SNMT) : Required
Facility Specific License / Certifications :
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or National Nuclear Med Tech (NMTCB) : Required
Essential Functions :
- Assigns personnel to particular patients and patient care activities based on independent assessment of effective skill and ability utilization, while working to equalize assigned personnel work load.
- Prepares patient and radioactive isotopes for administration and performs procedures.
- Screens and recommends candidates for hire, promotion, discipline and other administrative actions.
- Reviews daily schedule and assigns staffing, equipment and supplies accordingly. Prioritizes emergent procedures, minimizes patient waits and optimizes turn-around times.
- Maintains accurate records, files and billing information. Ensures the integrity of patient data while adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
