Position Summary :
The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for performing advanced ophthalmic work up, procedures, measurements, and tests to provide data to provider and assist in patient care. Assists provider throughout patient exam, office laser and surgical procedures. Position requires understanding of ophthalmology outpatient daily office routine. The Ophthalmic Technician will continually demonstrate Patient Centeredness, Teamwork, and Excellence in the daily performance of their duties. This position requires the ability to be self-motivated, flexible, punctual, detail oriented, and have excellent management and communication skills. Must be able to work under pressure and solve problems. Possesses maturity to work with a wide variety of temperaments. Possesses a positive attitude. Position will travel for coverage as needed.
Education, License & Cert :
Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent. Will consider Medical Office, Clinical, Dental or Nursing Assistant. All candidates will require Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) certification within 3 months of hire and completion of American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Home Study Course within 6 months of hire.
Experience : Prefer 2 years of clinical experience in ophthalmology or optometry. Experience in medical or dental practices is considered. Previous customer service and positions where multi-tasking and independent critical thinking is needed.
