Purpose Statement
The Springfield, Missouri Public School District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of High School Virtual Adjunct Educator.
The Springfield School District is Missouri’s largest public school district and has built a reputation of academic excellence based on the outstanding performance of our students and schools.
About 24,000 students attend 36 elementary schools, an intermediate school, 9 middle schools, 5 high schools and a variety of alternative education and choice programs.
Launch is a purpose-driven virtual course access program designed to serve Missouri students. Launch is based in Springfield Public Schools and partners with school districts statewide to offer students access to Launch virtual courses.
- This position will deliver and provide support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for developing student success in academics and / or skills;
- supervising students in online settings; collaborating with teachers, professional staff and administrators to deliver pre-designed curriculum and course work;
and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
Launch teachers are expected to be positive promoters of online learning opportunities to internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Functions
- Administers subject specific assignments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels.
- Advises parents and / or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations and students’ achievements and developing methods for improvement.
- Analyzes performance data for the purpose of enhancing student achievement.
- Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations and / or goals for the purpose of providing regular, high-quality feedback to students, parents and administration.
- Collaborates with Launch Online Staff, curriculum facilitators, other school personnel, and parents for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes and achieving established major instructional goals.
- Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and / or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective education that addresses individual student learning.
- Facilitates student learning ( creating a learning environment, integrating technology, encouraging learning environment, facilitates collaboration) in pre-designed course for the purpose of achieving success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through pre-determined learning outcomes.
- Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential files and records ( grades, test scores, attendance, anecdotal records, lesson plans) for the purposes of providing up-to-date information, historical reference and documenting student progress in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
- Monitors students and manages student behavior in an online environment for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participates in a variety of trainings and meetings for the purpose of conveying and / or gathering information required to perform duties as assigned.
- Reports health and safety issues to administrative personnel and / or appropriate agencies for the purpose of maintaining students’ personal safety, a positive learning environment and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines and legal requirements.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Bachelor’s degree in job-related area, required
Certificates and Licenses
- Missouri 9-12 Teaching Certificate, required
- Ability to gain and maintain "Highly Qualified" status as defined by Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, requred

- Background clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required
- Must have consistent access to high speed internet and be able to provide your own device
- Must reside in the State of Missouri. Exceptions may exist for teachers employed with Missouri Launch partner districts.

applying assessment instruments; and operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications.
Ability is required to gather, collate and / or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans.

Employee Punctuality and Appearance
- In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all schedules hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave.
