Universal Truck Service is a leading provider of truck repair and maintenance services in Roseville, Minnesota. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Trailer and Fabrication Service Shop Manager to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all operations in our trailer and fabrication shop, ensuring the highest level of quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities :

• Shop Management :
• Provide effective leadership and management of the trailer and fabrication shop, ensuring smooth operations, adherence to schedules, and efficient resource allocation.
• Supervise a team of technicians and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure optimal productivity and quality of work.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline shop processes and improve overall efficiency.
• Maintain a safe and organized working environment, adhering to all relevant safety regulations and protocols.

Project Management :

• Coordinate and prioritize work orders, ensuring timely completion of repairs, modifications, and custom fabrication projects.
• Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to understand project requirements, provide accurate estimates, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Monitor project progress, track key metrics, and report on shop performance to management.

Quality Assurance :

• Implement and enforce rigorous quality control standards to ensure all repairs, modifications, and fabrications meet industry standards and customer expectations.
• Conduct thorough inspections of completed work, identifying and addressing any issues or deficiencies promptly.
• Continuously assess and improve shop processes to enhance quality, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.

Inventory and Supply Management :

• Maintain inventory levels of necessary parts, tools, and supplies, ensuring availability for shop operations.
• Establish relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing, and monitor delivery timelines to ensure timely procurement of materials.
• Implement inventory management systems and processes to track usage, minimize waste, and control costs.

Customer Service :

• Interact with customers, providing exceptional service, addressing inquiries, and resolving any concerns or issues.
• Foster positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to enhance business partnerships and promote repeat business.
• Maintaining good communication on active repairs, completed repairs and incoming repairs with staff and customers.
• Working with dispatch on pick -up and delivery of customers equipment.

Requirements :

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing a fleet maintenance / trailer and fabrication shop, preferably in the trucking or automotive industry.
• Strong knowledge of trailer repair, modification, and fabrication techniques, including welding, metalwork, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of technicians.
• Proven track record of successfully managing projects, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality results.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
• Proficient in using shop management software, inventory systems, and basic computer applications.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, and team members.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
• Thorough knowledge of DOT rules and regulations, along with company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
