Fairview Hospital's Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) provides treatment to patients suffering from various medical problems and diagnoses, such as sepsis, respiratory problems, DKA, suicide monitoring, overdose monitoring, post-cardiac arrest hypothermia, altered mental status, and stroke.

Some of the most common procedures performed by the nursing staff in the MICU include bronchoscopy, endoscopy, emergent intubations, and central line placement.

A caregiver in this position works Nights, from 7 : 00pm-7 : 30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will :

Provide direct nursing care.

Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.

Monitor, record, document and communicate patients' conditions.

Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.

Educate patients and their families.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include :

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include :

Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
