Position Description

The University of Washington's (UW) Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.

0 FTE) position. This position would be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, without tenure due to reasons of funding (WOT).

Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.

Associate Professors and Professors (WOT) hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).

Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The anticipated start date would be September 1, 2023.

University of Washington faculty engage in research, teaching, and service. This position will be expected to engage in basic laboratory and / or translational research directed towards advancing the understanding of kidney health and diseases.

The successful applicant will provide inpatient and outpatient Nephrology care at UWMC-Montlake, teach fellows and residents at the bedside, and mentor research fellows.

Successful candidates will be expected to provide outstanding clinical care and bedside teaching.

The base salary range for this position will be : $20,000 to $25,000 per month ($240,000 - $300,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.

S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Qualifications

  • Successful candidates will have a demonstrated record of independent scholarship within nephrology.
  • In order to be eligible for University Sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show completion of all three steps of the U.

S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

  • Applicants must have an MD (or foreign equivalent)
  • ABIM board certified or eligible in Nephrology (or foreign equivalent)
  • Completion of an ACGME nephrology fellowship (or foreign equivalent)
