Position Information
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering Technology at University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty appointment.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
UMES is located on the scenic Eastern Shore of Maryland in Princess Anne. As a Doctoral University ranked as the High Research Activity (R2), the Historical Black University offers instruction in 37 undergraduate areas of study as well as fifteen masters degrees and eight doctoral degree programs.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering Technology offers the following degrees : BS in Computer Science, BS in Engineering Technology, and three graduate programs, i.
e., a Master of Science in Applied Computer Science, a Master of Science in Cybersecurity Engineering Technology, and an interdisciplinary joint Ph.
D. program in Applied Computing and Engineering. The Ph.D. program has five concentrations, three of which are managed by the department, i.
e., Cybersecurity, Data and Computational Science, and Software Engineering. Responsibilities
- Teaching expectations include instructing undergraduate courses in Simulation and Game Development in a variety of instructional modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.
- Actively seek external grants and publish scholarly work.
- Service to the Department, School, University, and / or professional community
- Participate in course and program development activities and outreach and promotion activities.
- Participate in recruitment and retention initiatives, and activities.
- Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
- Teach and mentor diverse communities.
- Participate in professional game design and game production-related organizations and conferences.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Classification 25- Education, Training, and Library Occupations Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in computer science, technology, engineering, computing, software engineering, or computer game design discipline, or closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience or knowledge of all facets of the game design and game programming field including technical, managerial and artistic advances;
current research (traditional and applied); and industry developments.
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience working with or teaching all primary game design, game programming, and management software applications, engines, and tools, as well as related hardware.
- Applicants should show excellence in teaching and a commitment to mentoring students and be competent in research and creative activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated post-secondary teaching experience.
- Demonstrated online or hybrid teaching experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse communities.
- Demonstrated research and teaching background in, but not limited to, Computer Game Design and Development, Computer Graphics, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Human-Computer-Interface (HCI).
- Publications of major entertainment or serious games and two years of higher education teaching in the subject matter area.
