Summary
This role manages all components and personnel (safety, environmental, operations, maintenance, engineering, and shipping) of plant in a safe, environmentally compliant and cost effective manner that is consistent with company policy and in compliance with government and employment laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Socially responsible operation committed to community involvement. Involvement in local community events and organizations.
- Manages and directs operation in accordance with all federal and state employment laws, OSHA regulations, environmental permits, DOT regulations and other pertinent regulations.
Directs Department Managers to deliver and maintain effective and compliant programs. Monitors those programs to ensure they are in place and program administration is consistent and equitable.
Stays abreast of current laws and issues through networking, seminars and literature.
Provides leadership, communication, and direction. Maintain an open door, visibility, and accessibility within the working areas.
Provides overall management of employee issues and information updates. Is responsible for management, supervisory and personnel development including innovative thinking, team building, succession planning.
Directs managers and supervisors in fair, equitable and consistent enforcement of company policies and procedures. Manages all aspects of the plant to continue to improve and explore options.
Directs and aids Department Managers in review of department function and development of objectives that will improve workforce, efficiency and performance.
Develops and analyzes plans and budgets, including Capital Budget, 3, 5- and 10-year plans, operating budget and strategic plans.
Directs the development and implementation of short and long-term strategic plans. Directs the development and implementation of regulatory compliance, manpower and succession plans.
Directs the annual operating and capital budgets preparation and compliance.
Typical Education
Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
Relevant Experience
10+ years related experience and / or training

Other Information
Knowledge of process and project engineering. Knowledge of project administration. Understanding of state and federal wage and hour laws.
Understanding of employment regulations, such as ADA, FMLA, Worker Comp, ERISA, EEOC, etc. Knowledge of GAAP accounting, budgets, strategic planning and cost accounting.
Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to OSHA and environmental regulatory compliance. Knowledge of industry, competition, raw materials, and processing cost.
Skills : Computer skills. Microsoft Office software. Excellent written and oral communication ability. Comprehension, reasoning and problem-solving ability.
Excellent interpersonal skills ability. Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously. Leadership / managerial ability.

Additional Comments : Maintaining consistent production of plant through coordination of departments. Maintaining the focus of all personnel on the safe, efficient operation of the plant from the incoming raw material and maintenance stocks to the shipment of product.
Managing employee issues to maintain a positive outlook and improve morale while continuing to maintain profitability. This involves improving the managerial and supervisory skills of reports, that allows the fair and consistent treatment of all employees.
