Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced Global Expansion Manager to drive compliance solutions and strategic trade projects in support of AWS's expanding global businesses.

As a compliance leader in a fast-paced environment, you will leverage your import / export knowledge, regulatory and product compliance knowledge to translate complex issues into opportunities.

Alongside our growing team, you will use a combination of subject matter expertise, business acumen and program management skills to think outside the box, influence process controls and lead programs to deliver successful, sustainable deployments.

The Compliance Solutions Manager within the Global Trade and Product Compliance (GTPC) Strategy team is responsible for defining and implementing projects to support GTPC’s cross-border compliance approach in response to emerging compliance needs across AWS, with a focus on cross-border compliance.

They lead definition, implementation and adoption of new cross-border controls including identifying opportunities to enhance scale and improve compliance, both through ad hoc engagements and longer-term strategic projects.

Where they identify opportunities, they act as the single threaded leader responsible for engaging back with subject matter experts, cross-team partners and technical teams to deliver successful outcomes.

They do this by successfully balancing the complexity of global customs requirements with simple, innovative processes that scale.

This role will include interacting with and influencing a variety of internal and external stakeholders including Technology Teams, Compliance Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, Legal, Tax, Public Policy and other partners.

This position will report to the Manager, Customs Strategy and Policy in the Global Trade and Product Compliance ('GTPC') function.

GTPC is responsible for ensuring that the infrastructure equipment necessary to support AWS services are imported and exported in a compliant manner across countries where AWS currently operates and / or will expand.

Key job responsibilities

Utilizes their program, industry and business experience to define program processes and compliance control mechanisms while minimizing cross-border regulatory risk.

Controls come in the form of new processes / SOPs, new technical solutions, and compliance review mechanisms.

Works across organizations (business launch teams, operations, transportation, tax, and legal) to drive partner and customer solutions to meet immediate needs and achieve shared objectives.

This requires a balance of compliance requirements against business costs, supply chain strategy, delivery timelines, and legal risks.

  • Effectively navigates trade-offs and priorities, ensuring we prioritize the right work to achieve business objectives. Where bottlenecks and barriers occur, the launch manager effectively escalates issues, both internally to GTPC as well as externally to partner teams, to unblock barriers and ensure program success
  • Drive compliance program integration with AWS business teams and supply chain via development of country level playbooks
  • Develop and oversee change management and continuous process improvement

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in supply chain, marketing, or operation
  • 6+ years of direct experience with program / project management, including technical delivery
  • 6+ years of direct experience with import / export / product compliance, global logistics or supply chain
  • 6+ years’ experience implementing and leveraging technology / data to drive process improvements and automation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PMP License
  • Datacenter infrastructure knowledge
  • Flexible to support various time zones
  • Meets / exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets / exceeds Amazon’s functional / technical depth and complexity for this role
