Procurement Specialist
Our client is looking to add a Procurement Specialist to their team in Whippany NJ! The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment and have previously worked with electro-mechanical components / parts.
In this role, the Procurement Specialist will facilitate the development and execution of sourcing strategies, conduct supplier evaluation, conduct negotiations, and drive the continuity of supply improvements.
Responsibilities :
- Partner with internal stakeholders to capture and address sourcing requirements.
- Identify, select, qualify, and form strategic partnerships with suppliers based on internal and external customer needs
- Evaluate suppliers' capabilities regarding quality, technology, service, cost competitiveness, capacity, financial strengths, flexibility, and commitment.
- Drive cost, quality and continuity of supply improvement
- Lead supplier development by evaluating performance and facilitating improvements
- Analyze category spend and proactively identify opportunities for improvement
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to reduce no bids
- Conduct supplier audits to determine effectiveness of supplier process controls and effectiveness of their QMS (both qualification and ongoing maintenance audits).
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, or related field
- 5 years sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to travel up to 40%
- Aerospace &Defense industry experience a plus
- Experience sourcing machined parts, gears and / or circuit card assemblies
- Strong understanding of sourcing and supply chain concepts and techniques
- Strategic thinker with excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Lean Six Sigma training and / or certification a plus
