Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Float Registered Nurse, you will provide care to a variety of patients throughout our Hospital. Staffed with a team-oriented group of caring clinical professionals our Pool RN’s float to our Step Down, Medical Surgical, Orthopedic & Spine Specialty, and Neuro Trauma floors.

About this unit :

You have proven to be proficient as a registered nurse and are now looking for a new way to sharpen your skills. As part of our site RN Float Pool, you will be lending your knowledge and experience to Step-Down, MS, OSS, and Neuro Trauma units.

Meeting new colleagues, observing different techniques, and keeping your specialty skills in use will add to the upward momentum of your RN journey.

  • Premium pay plus shift differentials.
  • Non-Critical Care units Med Surgical, Women’s Surgical, Neuro Trauma, Orthopedic and Spine Specialty.
  • Schedule : 2 12-hr shifts; 7a - 7p plus rotating weekends.

Responsibilities :

  • The role of the Float Pool Registered Nurse is to perform patient care under the direction of the Nurse Manager / Director of the department to which the RN is assigned for his or her shift.
  • The Registered nurse provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the patient, and in support of the mission of Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
  • The Registered Nurse in the Super Float Pool position provides care for acutely ill patient in units as determined by the Float Pool agreement.

What Qualifications You Will Need :

  • Graduate of school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and / or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
  • BLS required upon hire. ACLS required within 2 months of hire.
  • Must have three (3) years acute care experience in the areas of Med Surg, Tele, PCU, Neuro Trauma.

Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a 340+ bed facility offering acute medical services to our patients. We are Johnson County’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level II Trauma Center.

We have an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center. Our hospital is a premier area destination for Women's & Children’s healthcare services.

We offer the region’s only Maternal Fetal Health Center to care for critically ill mothers and their babies. Our hospital has an antepartum unit, a labor and delivery unit, and a Level III NICU.

We have four emergency rooms, including a dedicated Pediatric emergency room and two freestanding ERs located in Olathe and Shawnee.
