The Role

United Services Construction Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations and Fleet Manager to oversee and optimize our fleet operations.

The successful candidate will ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role is crucial in managing our fleet, ensuring optimal asset utilization, and maintaining high standards of vehicle performance and safety.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct Management of Company Mechanic and Schedule : Oversee the daily activities of company mechanics, ensuring timely and effective maintenance and repair of vehicles.
  • Efficient Asset Utilization and Route Planning : Optimize the use of fleet assets and plan routes to ensure timely deliveries and service provision, minimizing downtime and fuel costs.
  • Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance : Regularly inspect vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition and schedule preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
  • Real-time Vehicle Location Tracking : Utilize GPS and other tracking systems to monitor the location of vehicles in real-time, ensuring optimal route management and response to any issues.
  • Vehicle Performance Monitoring, Record Keeping, and Improvement : Track and analyze vehicle performance metrics, maintain accurate records, and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
  • DOT Compliance : Ensure all fleet operations comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and other relevant laws and standards.
  • Follow and comply with all safety policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Organizational Skills : Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Background in Fleet Management : Proven experience in fleet management, preferably in a construction or related industry.
  • Budget Management : Ability to manage a fleet budget of $50-100k per month, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising on quality and safety.

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management or operations management.
  • Technical Skills : Proficiency in fleet management software and GPS tracking systems.
  • Regulatory Knowledge : In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Problem-Solving Skills : Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational issues.
