Job Summary :

The Powerise Quality Engineer position is located at our office in Sterling Heights, MI. The person in this role is an integral member of the cross-functional Powerise Application Engineering Team.

The Powerise Quality Engineer commits to :

  • Delivering a high-quality Powerise product to the customer which meets all specifications
  • Timely administration and analysis of customer warranty returns
  • Initiation and follow-through with 8D activities and documentation
  • Being the Powerise Warranty Expert as well as the Voice of the Customer in North America
  • Will champion / support continuous improvement of the Quality Systems and the Design, Manufacturing and Assembly processes.

Main Tasks

  • Support customer quality teams as the Stabilus representative for Powerise warranty concerns
  • Ensure proper tracking and management of warranty return parts
  • Review & approve warranty return analysis reports
  • Coordinate with global warranty team to apply lessons-learned and read-across all centers of operation
  • Generate reports to present warranty performance and key projects to global team
  • Negotiate share rates and technical factors with customer quality teams
  • Plan and execute warranty improvement projects and milestones
  • Adhere to the TS16949-2002 guidelines in developing and meeting customer deliverable requirements
  • Resolve technical problems with solutions which address root cause and prevention of reoccurrence
  • Provide launch and manufacturing support to customer and Stabilus assembly facilities

Secondary Tasks

  • The job holder is obliged to follow the existing procedures and work instructions and act accordingly.

Education, Training, Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical discipline (preferred, but not required)

Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to discuss technical details with customers
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement projects to completion
  • Prior knowledge of automotive customer quality is preferred
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form with all levels of the organization
  • English Language Skills (Spanish and / or German is desired)

  • Interpersonal skills and communication
  • Technical understanding of product line
  • Interpretation of statistical reports R / 1000 charts and Cpk analysis
  • Understanding of 8D / 5Y / Root Cause Analysis methodologies
  • Highly organized
  • Microsoft Office Suite Excel & PowerPoint especially
  • Product testing and evaluation
  • Machining for practical teardown
  • Basic electrical skills
  • Proper usage and standard of care in process gauges as well as specialized test equipment

Accountability / Impact of Errors :

  • Accountability : Responsible for correct application and technical soundness and integrity of designs
  • Impact of Errors : Incorrect application could cause failures in field. Potential injury and / or lawsuits. Customer may pull business and go with the competition
  • Confidential Date : Yes. Has knowledge of customer / costing and all of Stabilus’ designs.

Working Conditions :

  • Physical Effort : Light physical work, holding and moving liftgates for strut install
  • Mental Effort : Performs a variety of complicated tasks
  • Visual Effort : Must read drawings and datasheets on computer screen
