Payroll Specialist
Duties and Responsibilities
PAYROLL PREPARATION AND PROCESSING
- Processes bi-weekly payroll including calculations for wages and deductions.
- Reviews and reconciles payroll reports before finalizing to ensure accuracy.
- Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
- Prepares and transmits payroll deductions to administrators of 401(k) plan and flex spending accounts.
SYSTEM AND EMPLOYEE MAINTENANCE
- Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system, as well as retrieving data when necessary.
- Updates payroll deductions for changes in insurance coverage and 401k withholding.
- Reconciles monthly benefits invoices.
TRAINING AND DOCUMENTATION
- Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures, and reporting needed changes.
- Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests about wages, direct deposit, attendance, and deductions.
- Keeps all pay information confidential.
- Documents and updates written payroll procedures.
- Maintains payroll documentation and files.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Experience with payroll processing required, experience with ADP Workforce Now a plus.
- Working knowledge of tax and wage compliance required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Competence with spreadsheets.
