Position S ummar y
The Residential Maintenance & Site Coordinator will be responsible for providing cleaning, maintenance, security, and monitoring of program participants.
Position will assist participants in adapting to community living and program policies, ensuring effective operation of the shelter program.
The position is expected to perform in a professional courteous manner with all residents, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees.
This position is for our programs in South Los Angeles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
MAINTENANCE DUTIES
- Supervise and participate in daily and deep clean chores to ensure chores are completed and facility is maintained in optimum condition at all times.
- Ensure setup and clean-up of dining areas and kitchen during and after meals, following all food safety guidelines.
- Conduct scheduled room checks for adherence to safety / cleanliness standards, monitor and report any safety concerns in relation to residential program.
- Check functionality of shelter appliances and systems to identify Additionally, ensure the machines, tools and other products used in the shelter are secured and accounted for.
- Turn-over rooms for perspective participants within a 24-hour period as required by agency Includes deep-cleaning room, replacing broken or non-functioning items and beddings, painting if necessary.
- Receive, sort and put away in-kind donations as needed.
SITE DUTIES
Follow procedures and guidelines set forth in the 'UBH Program Rules & Requirements' to help maintain structure and order in the living environment.
Additionally, enforcing shelter rules uniformly, and consistently.
- Ensure residents adhere to safety and security policies, including but not limited to signing logs, implementing time restraints and curfew procedures, inspecting rooms for cleanliness, contraband, weapons, alcohol, and / or drug paraphernalia.
- Provide monitoring and ensure that shelter is accessed by permitted parties only by authorizing the entrance and exit of deemed clients, employees, vendors and other authorized individuals.
- Respond appropriately to needs and crisis situations, such as mediating basic interpersonal conflicts between residents, contacting police or summoning emergency personnel, lead evacuations and / or ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Conduct internal and external walk-throughs of the facility hourly to monitor and insure safety.
- Communicates incident, issues and other relevant information accurately and timely to Supervisor, including recording entries into computer system, daily on-site log book, and / or personally through meetings as appropriate.
- Conduct effective shift changes, by gathering pertinent information when arriving for shift, in addition to sharing information with a daily monitoring log, by providing clear and concise documentation of facility issues and interactions with residents before the end of each shift.
- Treat participants in a culturally competent manner.

QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Ability) :
- High School graduate or GED, Associate Diploma
- Knowledge of basic janitorial skills.
- Demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to interface smoothly with other staff, and departments, in additional to maintaining a professional demeanor at all times, as well as remain calm and in control during emergency and crisis situations.
- Experience working with a diverse population, with sensitivity to differences in culture, religion, sexual orientation, race, age, and physical and mental
