Overview
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the general ledger accounting function, including the monthly book close and annual audit.
Works with Finance leadership and across all business functions to ensure financial records comply with GAAP.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Manages the general accounting functions, including reviewing transactions and account reconciliations to ensure compliance with GAAP and company operational expectations.
- Researches, documents, and implements accounting guidance for compliance with GAAP.
- Manages monthly book close process. Prepares, reviews, and analyzes financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinates and manages activities related to the external audit including preparation of draft audited financial statements.
- Assesses current processes and makes recommendations for improvements to streamline processes and improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Evaluates, maintains, documents, and improves accounting and internal control systems and policies to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Manages and provides leadership to the General Ledger Accounting Team. Builds a talented workforce with strong financial aptitude, leading to high level of performance.
- Supports and backs-up both the Controller and the Tax & Treasury functions during absences.
- Manages consolidation of all A-dec owned entities in compliance with GAAP.
- Performs ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and process documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor direct reports to build a successful team.
- High proficiency in MS Office, particularly with Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills, with the ability to keep sensitive information confidential.
- Ability to work collaboratively and influence change to improve processes within and between departments to drive optimal results.
- Demonstrates good organizational skills and the ability to manage time and resources effectively.
- Ability to work in the details and analyze data but also see the big picture to communicate to leadership.
- Ability to analyze financial results and support forecasting efforts.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA certification strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of experience managing teams.
- Experience with MS Dynamics / MS D365 preferred.
