POSITION SUMMARY :
Shift Hours : 12 hours-Nights (7p-7a)
Responsible for obtaining blood specimens from patients and for the clerical function of the laboratory including maintenance of all data processing equipment, processing and distribution of patient specimens, organization of laboratory test requests, charting of laboratory reports, and communication between nursing units and the laboratory.
Assists students in the specific area for development of technical, clinical, and problem solving. Performs additional duties as needed and or assigned.
CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital.
Works with supervisor / manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner.
Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations.
Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses / certifications, education and job knowledge / experience) :
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Current BLS Certification
- One year experience as a hospital phlebotomist
- Possesses clerical and computer skills
