The Foreign Language Medical Interpreter role facilitates health related communication between Health Care Providers (HCPs) and Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients.

Medical Interpreters help to ensure that patients receive understandable and respectful care that is in keeping with their cultural health beliefs, practices and primary language.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education : Training and / or experience in medical interpretation (12 hour LANA training) preferred.

2. License / Certifications : N / A

3. Experience : N / A

4. Additional Skills / Requirements Required : Native fluency or a comparable skill level in both English and the target language.

Knowledge of medical terminology in source and target languages.

5. Additional Skills / Requirements Preferred : N / A
