Position : Onsite Security Officer
Classification : Non-Exempt
Salary Range : Between $15 - $18 per hour
Reports to : Community Association Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are a high-rise residential condominium in Brickell looking for a highly motivated individual for a position in our Concierge Security Department.

Summary / Objective
This position is under the direct supervision of the Community Association Manager, appointed Security Supervisors and Shift Leads and are responsible for the protection, safeguarding and security of assets, personnel, customers and all visitors.
Essential Functions

- Performs security patrols.
- Enforces identification badge procedures.
- Protects property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire and accidents.
- Investigates and writes reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations.
- Provides any needed assistance to customers, employees and visitors following the department's procedures.
- Serves as training officer to new security staff.
- Act as a greeter to all tenants and visitors.
- Foot patrol of interior and exterior areas of assigned locations.
- Observe and report suspicious activities and persons.
- Write detailed narrative reports and maintain daily activity reports (DARs).
- Enforce rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and respond to emergency situations requiring security assistance.
- Assist with the receiving, registration and disbursement of owner and resident packages.
- May perform duties of a security sergeant during required coverage as assigned and performs other related duties as assigned by a security sergeant, lieutenant and / or security department manager.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand;
walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Essential physical and mental functions include but are not limited to the following :
- Stand or walk constantly (for up to an entire shift) on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet, grass, sand, dirt, etc.).
- Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift.
- Occasionally bend / twist at waist / knees / neck to perform various duties.
- Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds.
- Run as needed.
- Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching / handling / grasping / fingering while using phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks.
- Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors;
includes hand / eye coordination.
- Read, understand and clearly speak English and Spanish; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public / co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phones.
- Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat.
- Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments.
- Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner;
must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
- Must be able to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting; may require computer skills.
- Must be able to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions.
- Must be able to handle pressure of working with high volume general public (constantly to occasionally depending on assignment).
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, unless otherwise assigned. Days and hours of work require availability to work all shifts including day, swing, night, weekends and holidays.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- Must possess a valid Class D Security Guard License as required in the state of Florida within 45 from commencement date.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures.
- As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a post-offer / pre-employment drug / alcohol test.
- As a condition of continued employment, employee must maintain current active status of all required License at all times, and must carry the license at all times while on duty.
- Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills to utilize innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites.
