Groton COLUMBIA Class Waterfront Engineering - Test Engineer

Overview

Groton COLUMBIA Class Waterfront Engineering – Test Engineer role at General Dynamics Electric Boat. This position supports final assembly, test, certification, and delivery of the first of class SSBN 826 COLUMBIA, providing comprehensive technical oversight of construction and test activities at the Groton shipyard. The test engineer will interface with Ship's Management, Planning, Operations, SUPSHIP, and PMS397 as the primary test engineering interface for the Groton shipyard.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and assist trade personnel to overcome emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction and testing
• Interpret drawing and testing requirements
• Provide guidance and direction to Groton trades and test via dispositions of Change Notices and TIR UNSATs
• Develop test equipment drawings
• Support Shipyard Test, Strategic Weapons Test, and Non-Propulsion Electronics Test organizations
• Support all testing needs including troubleshooting and test form execution
• Facilitate the implementation of testing process improvements
• Coordinate engagement of test and engineering SMEs in the construction sequence
