Responsibilities :
- You will have the opportunity to influence the department’s short and long-term strategic goals
- Maintain adequate financial controls for all accounting responsibilities
- Complete reviews and approvals of accounting processes and procedures including reports and profitability measures
- Provide detailed analyses and explanation of transactions
- Proper administration of software systems
- Anticipate the questions of report recipients and provide meaningful narrative for end users
- Understand the wants and needs of our internal customers and develop reports or tools to better meet their needs
- Continual monitoring of current reporting and analysis tools, recommending changes that will provide more meaningful data
- Ensure compliance with statutory accounting guidelines (SSAP's) and state regulatory agencies
- Employ professional skepticism, discernment and an inquisitive mindset related to current accounting processes
- Serve as a liaison between accounting / finance and business partners, recognizing and explaining complex accounting and reporting matters
Qualifications :
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related field and 2 years of experience in accounting
- Or 6 years of experience in accounting
- Strong oral and written communication skills, strong group presentation, and ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
- Strong problem solving / analytical skills
- Ability to identify and capitalize on continuous improvement ideas
- Possesses multi-tasking and prioritization skills
- Ability to understand Central Insurance’s policies and processes
