Job Description :
Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for the 2024 / 2025 school year in Greenwood, SC.
The SLI will provide vital interpretation services to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring effective communication in educational environments.
This role offers an opportunity to positively impact students' academic and social experiences while collaborating within a supportive educational community.
Responsibilities :
Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa for students in classroom settings, educational activities, and school events.
Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers to ensure access to educational content and participation in school activities.
Adapt interpreting techniques and strategies to meet the individual communication needs of students.
Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to promote student success and inclusivity in the school community.
Qualifications :
Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification).
Experience working with students in educational settings preferred.
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of deaf culture.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
