Position Summary : The Medical Assistant will act as a liaison between the Agency’s psychiatric providers, clients, and various organizations (e.

g. insurance companies, pharmacies, primary care) within the community. They will support the psychiatric staff by utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology, completing prior authorizations, and handling medication-related telephone calls while maintaining an efficient and professional manner.

This position functions within the outpatient mental health clinic.

Major Responsibilities / Activities :

• Complete prior authorizations with insurance companies to ensure clients receive appropriate medications as determined by the psychiatric provider
• Review and process refill requests from various sources (e.g. clients, pharmacies)
• Return phone calls from pharmacies to clarify questions regarding scripts, refills, and other inquiries
• Review all Laboratory test results and discuss any concerns with the psychiatric provider
• Communicate any medication, behavioral or primary health concerns to psychiatric provider, guardian (as applicable) and client's therapist
• Document any concerns in the client's chart and monitor as needed
• Work collaboratively with mental health therapists regarding behavioral health concerns and outcomes
• Ensure completion of appropriate documentation in all clients' charts as deemed appropriate
• Demonstrates appropriate communication skills, both written and verbal
• Shows respect and courtesy in all interactions and communication internal or external to Agency
• Interest, knowledge, and support for the Agency’s mission, values and philosophy
• Supports and communicates with supervisor and coworkers in a cooperative manner
• Must maintain and submit all of the required documents and comply with all aspects of the Vehicle Safety and Usage Policy
• Models and practices sensitivity, fair treatment and acceptance of diversity in all interpersonal interaction

Competitive Pay Rate of $18.50 - $20.50 per hour

Minimum Requirements :

• Spanish speaking preferred
• Two years of medical assistant experience, preferable in an outpatient clinic setting
• Ability to relate well to children, families, and other staff members

Part Time Schedule : Monday through Friday : 12 : 30-4 : 30PM
